Acquittal of retrial after imprisonment for murder 35 years ago Hiroki Miyata died Kumamoto October 29, 12:46

Thirty-five years ago, after serving a prison sentence for murdering a man in Matsubasemachi, Kumamoto Prefecture, Hiroki Miyata, who was found not guilty in a retrial = redo trial, died at a hospital in Kumamoto City due to pneumonia.

I was 87 years old.

In January 1985, Mr. Miyata was sentenced to 13 years in prison for murder and other charges for murdering a 59-year-old man in a house in Matsubasemachi, Kumamoto Prefecture, now in Uki City, Kumamoto Prefecture, for 9 years and 2 months. However, in March of last year, in a retrial = redo trial, the Kumamoto District Court acquitted him, saying, "There is no evidence that he is the criminal and it is not admitted that he was killed."



According to his guardian's lawyer, Mr. Miyata has lived in welfare facilities in Kumamoto City since he was released from prison in 1999, 21 years ago.



He was ill for about a week and died of pneumonia at the hospital in Kumamoto City where he was hospitalized before 3:00 am on the 29th.
