  • CCAA. Perimeter confinement and other measures against Covid, community by community

The drag of the second wave is of such magnitude that this Thursday it has set a new record of infections throughout the pandemic in our country.

The updated report of the Ministry of Health published today has specifically registered

23,580 confirmed cases

since yesterday.

The highest figure until then had been reported just a week ago, when the Government reported 20,986 infected in one day.

The total number of infected people in Spain since March increases to 1,160,083.

Of the more than 23,000 positives reported, 9,395 correspond to diagnostic tests performed in the last 24 hours (Wednesday, 9,303).

Most of them are concentrated in Madrid (1,809), Catalonia (1,707) and Aragon (1,121).

Another region close to 1,000 infections has been the Basque Country, which has scored 915.

Health has also added 173 new deaths in the last day

, so the global number of people killed by the virus since the start of the pandemic rises to 35,639 (failing to include deaths in residences).

With the date of death in the last week, the official count records 790 deaths.

The director of the Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies,

Fernando Simón

, has summarized the most important figures of the document that the Ministry of Health sends to the media daily.

After highlighting that the Spanish data "are bad", he pointed to a possible seasonality of the virus, which would explain the rise in cases throughout Europe, although it is one aspect, he indicated, still unconfirmed.

Simón has admitted that the Accumulated Incidence to 14 days, located in 468 cases, are "many".

On why Spain has had a greater incidence during the past months, the epidemiologist has alluded to the "customs" of our country.

"We have an internal mobility superior to that of almost all European countries

. That, of course, does not help to control transmission. We have a way of relating in large family groups and large groups of friends greater than other European countries," he explained the spokesman for Health.

He also pointed to the outbreaks associated with seasonal workers as a possible explanation, although he has qualified: "We have nothing but hypotheses."

In relation to the harsh measures implemented in recent days in Italy, France and Germany, he reflected: "Spain has been implementing measures for longer."

"The question is not to go on proposing to constantly apply measures, but to apply them correctly," Simón argued, although he has asked that the current rules be applied decisively:

"If a reduction in night mobility is decided, make it real," he said

. example, among others.

"That it be applied and really applied", has generalized on the normative framework in force.

"A very short confinement is not enough"

Regarding the confinement of the Community of Madrid, which will close only on bridge days, he has reflected: "Any confinement will have an effect, be it two days, three days, 14 days ...", although it has In addition, some lockdowns will have "a greater effect" than others.

"A very short confinement is not enough. In the situation we are in, taking timid steps is not the way in which we are going to have more impact with the measures that are proposed," he argued.

However, "although it is not going to have all the impact that we would like, it will have an effect", he assessed the Madrid closing.

In addition, Simón stressed that the situation in the Community of Madrid, within the high transmission it presents, is stable:

"Madrid is implementing important measures, and the evolution of Madrid is favorable

. We cannot say that the situation is good because they are still very high incidents ".

Deaths and cumulative incidence

Madrid remains in the lead in terms of deaths and accumulates 161 in the last seven days.

Andalusia and Aragon are not far behind, with 137 and 132, respectively.

For its part, Aragon communicates 68;

Galicia, 43;

Asturias and Castilla La Mancha, 41;

Valencia, 40;

Extremadura, 28;

Navarra, 26;

the Basque Country and La Rioja, 18;

and Canarias and Murcia, 10. Likewise, Catalonia registers seven deaths in this period of time;

Cantabria and Ceuta, four;

and the Balearic Islands and Melilla, one.

Regarding the accumulated incidence (AI) -number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days- it continues to rise and increases again to 468 positives.

The communities that are of most concern in this regard are Melilla (1,290), Navarra (1,172), Aragón (984), La Rioja (736) and Castilla y León (734).

In addition, 13 of the 19 communities in Spain reveal an alarming rate of AI above 400 confirmed cases.

Far is the stabilized evolution of the pandemic that seemed to exist at the beginning of the month

after the critical and chaotic situation that has been taking place in the last two weeks.

Proof of this is the brutal growth of infections in the last 14 days, which has almost doubled compared to the first half of October.

Specifically, between October 1 and 15, Health reported a total of 126,953 infections.

However, the official count has noted this Thursday the chilling figure of 220,164 positives in the last two weeks.

Income

On the other hand, 5,056 infected have entered in the last seven days, 182 more than the previous day.

More than half of them are located in Castilla y León (788), Andalusia (726), Madrid (548), Aragon (449) and Valencia (434).

Of the people hospitalized in the last week, 348 have required intensive care and 118 have been transferred since yesterday.

Thus, the global number of Covid patients who have needed an ICU rises to 15,489.

There are currently 17,520 people admitted because of the virus

.

Five communities are over a thousand: Catalonia, which is close to 4,000 (3,864), Madrid (3,001), Andalusia (2,543), Castilla y León (1,506) and Valencia (1,183).

In Europe the second wave has no brakes.

Spain follows in third place in number of infections, behind Russia (1,563,976) and France (1,235,132).

The United Kingdom continues to lead in terms of deaths and has already accumulated 45,675 since the start of the pandemic.

Regarding the cumulative incidence of the virus in the European countries that have accumulated the highest number of confirmed cases,

Belgium is the one with the highest rate: 1,447 infections per 100,000 inhabitants

.

A similar situation is experienced by the Czech Republic, which scores an AI of 1,373 positives, half that of Switzerland, in third position with an index of 683. The Netherlands and France also exceed an incidence of 600 confirmed cases (668 and 634, respectively).

Spain is placed in sixth place with an AI of, as already mentioned, 468 infected.
