Fukui City Even sitting in a residential garage was attacked by a bear and suffered a series of injuries October 29, 13:07

From the night of the 28th to the early morning of the 29th, there were two cases of injuries caused by bears attacking people in Fukui City.

One bear is sitting in the garage of a house and is being watched by police and the Hunting Association.

According to Fukui City, a 55-year-old man was attacked by a bear in Inazu-cho, Fukui City at around 6:30 pm on the 28th when he parked his car in the garage and tried to enter his house.

The man was slightly injured by being scratched on the calf of his right leg.

The bear once fled the scene, but before dawn on the 29th, a resident found him lurking in the garage of the next house and contacted the city.

The bear is still sitting in the garage, and police and hunting associations are keeping alert by restricting access to the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, in a mountain village in Shinoo-cho, Fukui City, about 3 kilometers away, a 69-year-old man who was delivering newspapers was attacked by a bear that suddenly appeared before 4 am on the 29th.

The man visited the hospital with his family after returning home on his own, but his face was scratched and he was seriously injured.

The whereabouts of the bear are unknown.

At Sakeo Elementary School, which is close to the two sites, parents were seen driving their children and locals attending to the school gate during the time of school attendance on the morning of the 29th.

According to Fukui Prefecture, the number of people injured by bears in the prefecture this year is 12 people, which is close to the highest number of 14 people in 2004 since the start of statistics. I am calling for countermeasures.
