Almost two years to the day after arriving in Brittany, the Prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine Michèle Kirry must leave the region.

The decision was recorded on Wednesday in the Council of Ministers.

She was appointed president of the higher council for territorial support and evaluation and returned to Paris.

Before her departure, she will have authorized 5,000 people to attend the first Champions League match at Stade Rennais.

She will be replaced by Emmanuel Berthier, who worked as general manager of Outre-Mer.

She had arrived at the birth of the yellow vests, without imagining the scale that this movement would take in Brittany as everywhere in France.

Two years after her appointment, Michèle Kirry left the region in the midst of a health crisis.

Born in Aube, she had only practiced for two years in the region, when she was appointed in Nièvre from 2012 to 2014. After having served in the National Police Directorate in Paris, she had was named in Brittany where the roundabouts were starting to be occupied.

"I am going to become Breton", she had declared on her arrival.

We do not know if she will have had the time.

A new prefect expected

The one who graduated from the 1993 Gambetta promotion at the ENA will chair the higher council for territorial support and evaluation, a body which evaluates and advises prefects and sub-prefects.

She will be replaced by Emmanuel Berthier, who has already carried out the same missions in Sarthe, Moselle, Oise, Hautes-Pyrénées or even Guadeloupe.

Since 2017, he was Director General of Overseas Territories, a body that assists the Minister and implements his policy.
