On October 23, Alain's lawyer, a 52-year-old man, weighing nearly 300 kg, stranded for many months in his accommodation in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), indicated to

20 minutes

that he had sent to the Ministry of the Interior a letter to alert him of the emergency situation in which his client finds himself.

"I ask that we put an end to this cinema", confided Jean Codognès.

It did not rule out, moreover, filing a complaint for "non-assistance to a person in danger".

In a house in the poor Saint-Jacques district, this fifty-something has been on the ground, since a fall.

Since then, he has remained seated, without moving, in dilapidated accommodation.

His relatives move heaven and earth to be helped to take care of him, and to evacuate him.

In vain.

Its management has not, for the moment, been accepted by any hospital.

"Scandalized"

For months, several meetings have been held, under the aegis of the prefecture, to try to find a solution.

An evacuation was to take place, but it did not take place.

Monday, the League against obesity expressed its indignation, as for the situation of Alain who "lives on a mattress placed on the floor, probably with a broken leg, at the end of his strength, in the middle of filth, fed somehow by his brother, ”indicates the association.

“We are scandalized by this degrading health situation which has lasted too long.

The life of this man is in danger and, with his lawyer, we act on the medical, social, political and legal grounds so that it is assisted and treated urgently ”, confides Agnès Maurin, its director.

The association, which indicates that it sent two letters on Monday, one to the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, the other to the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, "to demand urgent exfiltration", but also "to inform them that 'she is about to file a complaint'.
