"Kimetsu no Yaiba" pirated DVD sale or company employee arrested on suspicion of copyright law violation October 27, 18:43

A 40-year-old office worker living in Fukuoka Prefecture was arrested by the police on suspicion of violating the copyright law for selling a pirated DVD of the popular manga "Kimetsu no Yaiba" on a mail order site.

It means that he has partially denied the charges against the investigation.

The person who was arrested was Kotaro Hattori (40), an office worker in Nakagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture. According to the police, a pirated DVD of the anime "Devil's Blade", a set of 3 DVDs, was sold on the online shopping site around March. It is suspected of violating the copyright law, alleging that it was sold to two women living in Ibaraki Prefecture.

The mail-order site advertised "overseas version" and "no commercials" and sold it at a price significantly lower than the regular price.

According to the investigation so far, the pirated DVD is believed to have been brought from Malaysia, and police seized about 600 copies late last month.

Hattori's account received a deposit of about 11.5 million yen in the year to April, and police are investigating it on the suspicion that he was making a lot of money.

In response to the investigation, he stated, "I thought it was a bad DVD, but I thought it was a genuine product and sold it," and denied some of the charges.
