In November 2019, the Central Academy of Fine Arts organized and implemented the first "Young Artists International Resident Art Practice Program", aiming to help them find their own position in the current international art field and build an effective way.

Seven outstanding young artists from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Wu Xiaohai, Shang Liang, Ye Funa, Lu Zhengyuan, Zhang Wenchao, Chen Baoyang, and Jiang Shangyue were invited to participate in the residency practice. This exhibition showcases the latest creations of resident artists who have completed their residency practice and "fermented" their knowledge and experience of the residency during the epidemic.

Wu Xiaohai used the fireworks exported to Japan from his hometown of Liuyang, Hunan as his creation entrance. Through virtual dialogue videos with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, imitating Japanese comics, and packaging of exported Japanese fireworks products, he showed that Liuyang’s traditional fireworks production industry is still active today. The low-cost labor and high-risk export industries express the gap between the economic and cultural interactions between China and Japan; Shang Liang feels the cultural consumption of a large number of Japanese comics and hand-runs, and continues his "Boxing Man" series of works. A new portrait of the "Boxing Man" of Dream Smile; Ye Funa played the image of his favorite virtual singer idol, Hatsune Miku (Hatsune Miku) with 30 cosplayers. The second creation of the fandom represented by Hatsune "Culture reflects the modernization transformation facing Asian countries such as China and Japan.

As the curator of this resident practice report exhibition, Cai Meng, an associate researcher of the Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum of Fine Arts, tried to place the art discussion between China and Japan in a mirrored reference relationship between the artists’ works in this exhibition. Construct an intertwined and interpenetrating growth relationship.

The exhibition will be on until November 9.
