The Gironde CPAM has grown from around twenty advisers to more than 300 on its “contact tracing” platform since May.
The newbies, who do not necessarily come from the medical field, are trained in 48 hours flat.
The platform handles nearly 3,000 calls per day and now also sends dozens of emails to “trace, alert and protect”.
It is a real anthill.
However, at the start, on May 13, there were only a few ants, around twenty on the “contact tracing” platform of the Gironde CPAM.
Today, there are nearly 300 advisers taking turns seven days a week from 8 am to 6 pm to "trace, alert and protect".

“We now have 200 people on permanent contracts and 116 on fixed-term contracts since September 1st.
We always try to have more than a hundred people on site per day to call and pick up the phone, ”explains Dr Bruno Léger, the manager of the platform.
A few months ago, some would never have imagined being there.
This is the case with Alexandre, order picker who had no connection with the medical world at the start.
He now spends his days listening and guiding positive patients or contact cases.
He is one of those people whose “Covid-19 took their job before giving them another”, sums up his tutor.
3,000 calls per day to process
To do this, he followed an accelerated training course in forty-eight hours flat: "It's two days of theory with in particular a doctor who intervenes to give us the basics", recalls the young Bordelais.
He then had to familiarize himself with the different software with the help of a tutor.
Alexandre admits that “it was a bit complicated with the first ten patients, but you learn very quickly and there are no major difficulties.
"
It is better since the hundred people present per day manages more than 3,000 calls.
For example, this Sunday, we had to take 500 calls from positive patients, make 1,200 calls for contact cases and process 1,000 other calls to help other CPAM platforms.
“It's been really intense for a few days.
At the beginning, we always had 5-6 minutes between each call, today we do it non-stop, we can no longer breathe, ”says Karine who was still working for a polling institute.
In all, in France, 130,000 calls are handled by “contact tracing” platforms.
The platform could still gain momentum
In recent weeks, advisers have also multiplied emails in the face of the increase in cases of Covid-19 on the national territory.
But Philippe Claussin, the director of the CPAM of Gironde, insists on the fact that "96% of contact cases are called within four hours of knowing the result of the test by the platform".
“For the moment, we manage to trace everything, we even bring our help to other regions (50% of daily activity), and we could still ramp up.
But beware, our resources are not without limits, ”he warns.
Especially since the situation has deteriorated sharply for a week in Gironde.

According to the latest figures from the Regional Health Agency in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the incidence rate is 201 in the region and 165 in Gironde.
That's 20 more points in a week in the department.
The anthill is therefore likely to rustle over the next few days, but Karine is for the moment "pleasantly surprised" by the French, whom she calls every day because "95% of them are receptive and think above all of the general interest!"
