The Covid-19 epidemic has broken a new record in France with 52,010 new positive cases recorded in twenty-four hours, according to figures from Public Health France published on Sunday.

The day before, the country had recorded more than 45,000 new cases, and on Friday crossed the milestone of one million confirmed cases since the start of the epidemic.

The number of deaths attributable to the disease rose to 116 for the day of Sunday, bringing the total toll since the start of the epidemic to 34,761 dead.

The test positivity rate continues to increase, reaching 17%, against 16% the day before, and only 4.5% at the beginning of September.

The other indicators (number of people admitted to intensive care, number of people hospitalized in twenty-four hours, etc.) were not available on Sunday in the early evening.
