"The situation is serious and the time is no longer for half measures".

URPS, the union of liberal doctors in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is concerned about the progress of the coronavirus epidemic on the national territory but also regional, in which three metropolises (Lyon, Saint-Etienne and Grenoble) are classified in the scarlet area.

In a statement released Friday, doctors call for weekend containment and an extension of the curfew to 7 p.m.

Measures they deem "necessary".

"With more than 41,600 new cases in twenty-four hours, the epidemic has reached a record level which in a few days will find its translation into a congestion, even a saturation of hospital services, not only for patients affected by COVID, but also by all the other usual pathologies, with major risks for their life and their health, ”they argue.

"Human disaster"

"If nothing stops the progression of the epidemic, the catastrophe will be human then economic then social", they continue calling on the government to act quickly to avoid a situation "comparable to that of the Grand-Est, or even of the Italy, last spring ”.

And to conclude: "Too many of our fellow citizens do not take the risk of contagion seriously enough, individually trivialize this infection, neglect the risk they pose to others and in the first place to the most vulnerable".
