The lifeguards at sea at Le Croisic (Loire-Atlantique) will not soon be forgotten.
A resident of Le Mans has just paid them a donation of an exceptional amount of 500,000 euros.
This 84-year-old retiree explains having wanted to respect the last wishes of her recently deceased husband, reports
Ouest-France
.
Very attached to the town of Le Croisic where he had a second home, the deceased, an amateur of yachting, wanted to support the local National Society for Rescue at Sea (SNSM).
One condition was, however, expressed: that this half a million euros should only be used to improve relief equipment.
That's good news, the Croisic resort is going to invest in two new specialized boats.
Their deliveries are scheduled for 2022 and 2023.
The SNSM is one of the main players in search and rescue at sea in France.
It employs 87 people and mobilizes more than 6,000 volunteer rescuers.
