The legendary rap group IAM tells its story, which is significant for French rap, in the book "Entre la pierre et la plume".

Memories that are not, according to Shurik'n and Akhenaton, who will be Emilie Mazoyer's guests this Friday evening, the sign of the end of the group.

They have never stopped since their beginnings in 1988. The members of IAM publish their memoirs with

Has IAM changed with its age to remain credible over time?

"I think we do it unconsciously," says Akhenaton.

"But on the other hand, for loving and making music, there is no expiration date."

For Akhenaton, the misconception that rap careers don't last stems from a recurring error in reasoning.

"In France, we very often confuse the profession of artist, and in particular rap artist, with that of boxer or footballer. In these professions, there is indeed a physical limit."

The stage, a sport in itself

Whoever has seen IAM on stage knows that their concerts are also a physical performance.

“Maybe jumping around on stage for two hours will be a lot more difficult to manage in a few years,” Akhenaton admits.

"We will always do things, but in another form."

"You are fighting with the weapons of the moment," recalls Shurik'n.

For the latter, aging or not, it is passion that must decide the rest of IAM's career.

"As long as we love what we do and can, we will continue," he promises.
