Inspirational study of a 21-year-old female college student with cerebral palsy in Hubei——

"I walk very slowly, but I never go back"

Tan Yuying is not tall, walks a bit awkwardly, speaks a little hard, and constantly corrects her pronunciation, but she insists on learning and living in a way of avoiding weaknesses. "If you don't speak clearly, improve your writing skills and express yourself in warm words; If the body is not good, it depends on the brain."

The new semester just started, and Tan Yuying of Hubei University appeared in the public list of the pacesetters of Hubei Province in 2019.

Many people may find it hard to believe that the recipient of the Hubei University "National Encouragement Scholarship" with a software designer qualification certificate and two software copyrights is a 21-year-old girl with cerebral palsy.

Tan Yuying was born with hypoxia in the brain and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of two.

In the same year, both her parents were laid off, and the family suffered a double blow, both financially and spiritually.

Talking, doing hands, turning over, standing, and walking, the growth trajectory naturally completed by children of the same age is so difficult for Tan Yuying.

Her mother Ding Biying formulated targeted rehabilitation training for her. She spoke for the first time at the age of 3, and the vague "mother" sentence made Ding Meiying weep with joy.

On the road, Tan Yuying always attracts the attention of passersby.

Adults point and point, and children imitate her behavior. Tan Yuying always feels that "it seems like there are needles stuck in her body".

At the age of school, Tan Yuying has his own insistence: not going to special schools.

For several years, parents have been looking for schools that are willing to accept their daughters, but there are always doubts around them: "She can't read the book, so which school wants her?" "You didn't give up her life is the best way to do it." But the mother felt that her daughter. Just an ordinary child, he has to go to school when he reaches his age.

An ordinary elementary school in Chongyang, Hubei finally approved Tan Yuying's application.

Years later, Tan Yuying recalled the turning point of his fate in this way: "The school has come out of the mysterious palace to welcome me, the watchman who has been wandering outside the door for a long time."

I can finally go to school, and the road full of thorns has just begun.

The mother remembered that in order to learn to write "1", her daughter had to wrap her pencil in thick gauze so that she could hold the pen.

During the training for the past month, she wrote "1"s all over the two notebooks.

After practicing a lot, Tan Yuying found his unique pen-holding technique: put the pen between the middle finger and the ring finger, hold the pen with the index finger, middle finger and thumb, and then exert force with the wrist.

Tan Yuying tried his best and started to reap.

Her composition is often used as a model essay. When she was in junior high school, her composition "Fate of Lightning and Thunder" also won the first prize of the "Newcomer Cup" National Primary and Secondary School Composition Competition; math and English exams also won the first place in the class many times.

In addition to learning the knowledge in textbooks, Tan Yuying also learned to play chess, electronic piano, and draw.

Hu Senyan was Tan Yuying's monitor in high school.

Speaking of Tan Yuying, he was full of admiration: "She is a very self-improving girl." Whenever he meets a classmate who wants to give up his studies, Hu Senyan will always say: "Look at Yu Ying and think about what we have to fall for?"

In 2017, Tan Yuying was admitted to the software engineering major of Hubei University with a score of 51 points higher.

A teacher from Hubei University sent her a college entrance examination admission notice to help her. The school also provided Tan Yuying's mother with a free dormitory to accompany her.

In the 15 years since she was in school, she has not missed a class; she wakes up at 6:45 in the morning and always sits in the first row; a report of tens of thousands of words is completed by tapping the keyboard with two fingers with one hand... "has been treated specially by the school Now, if I don’t work hard, and I am special in study and practice, then I look down on myself."

In his sophomore year, Tan Yuying was admitted to the Software Engineering Institute of the School of Computer and Information Engineering of Hubei University and became a member of the college's scientific research platform and the scientific research innovation team of provincial universities.

During the study period, she and the project team of the Software Institute successfully developed two projects: "Hubei Basic Education Information Development Level Detection System" and "Large Class Multidimensional Data Analysis System".

As a core development member, she is responsible for project analysis, design, code implementation, etc., and became the only student of the Software Institute who applied for the software copyright of these two projects.

In order to consolidate his professional foundation, Tan Yuying participated in Hubei University's "General Knowledge Cup" Mathematics Competition and Hubei University's "Internet +" Competition, and won the Excellence Award and Silver Award respectively.

"Whether in study or life, she is a benchmark for her classmates." Tan Yuying has become a good student that counselor Yan Xiuhong often talks about.

In 2019, Tan Yuying officially became a member of the Communist Party of China.

Zhang Yue, secretary of the party branch of the college, was deeply impressed by her words in her application for joining the party: "Although the storm of fate never stops, I must face life positively and use my energy to give back to the society and those who love me." In life, She did fulfill her oath in this way.

Tan Yuying likes to participate in social voluntary service activities. Because of his limited physical condition, he mostly engages in work promotion and emotional counseling activities.

Once, a mother came to ask for help: her 10-year-old daughter was sick and hospitalized for nearly half a year and was about to undergo surgery, hoping to be encouraged by Tan Yuying.

For this reason, Tan Yuying, who was physically uncoordinated, did 50 push-ups in one breath. Before that, 30 was her limit.

She recorded the video and sent it to the girl, with a sentence: "I did it, so can you!"

This year, after the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia, Tan Yuying participated in Chongyang's online epidemic prevention campaign.

Tan Yuying found that due to the long time at home, many senior high school students are prone to conflicts with their parents, and in serious cases they run away from home. The reasons for conflicts are mostly related to parents shouting to get up and urging them to study.

She is the "tree hole" of these students. She always listens patiently to them to vent their emotions, teaches them to adapt to online learning, enhances their self-learning ability, and improves learning efficiency.

Tan Yuying's biggest dream is to "talk and laugh freely, and walk easily", and software and code are the best carriers for her dreams.

Her latest plan is to continue her professional studies and be admitted to a master's degree in software engineering at the university.

During this period, getting up early in the morning and resting at 10 o'clock in the evening is Tan Yuying's normal review.

It is always so difficult to move the pen tip on the paper, but she still writes more than 6 hours a day.

Three years ago, Tan Yuying wrote a letter of thanks for those who helped her-"Sun, Thank you for your company."

In the letter, she wrote this footnote for her obsession: "I walk very slowly, but I will never step back."
