Three weeks after storm Alex and its terrible consequences in the Tinée, Vésubie and Roya valleys, the return of rain announced for Friday is worrying the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture.

In a tweet, the prefect specifies that there is "no vigilance at this stage but given the already weakened soils, [he] calls for the greatest caution" the inhabitants of the Alpes-Maritimes.

During this rainy episode, which should begin around 2 am, are expected "around 40 mm".

During storm Alex, which hit the department on October 2, it fell locally to 500 mm in a few hours.

The provisional toll of this exceptional climatic event is five dead and thirteen missing.

The chances of finding the bodies of these people and identifying them are dwindling day by day.

The material damage is also enormous.

One and a half billion euros to rebuild infrastructure, according to the Nice metropolis and the departmental council, and estimated at at least 210 million euros for insured property, the French Insurance Federation said.
