Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchi which is usually benign.

The main symptoms are a moderate fever and a dry cough, which often lasts for several days.

In some rare cases, it can even degenerate into pneumonia.

You may have already had bronchitis.

This disease, which is mostly mild, is characterized by fever and cough for several days.

But in rare cases, it can degenerate into pneumonia.

Doctor Jimmy Mohamed explained this disease in the program Sans Rendez-Vous on Europe 1.

"Bronchitis, as the name suggests, is inflammation of the bronchi. It most often appears in the context of nasopharyngitis. Runny nose, sore throat, sometimes a little fever for two to three days ... And finally, a dry cough, without molard or mucus, which persists for a few days.

There is a lot of confusion about bronchitis.

Covid, for example, does not cause bronchitis but can degenerate into pneumonia.

In this case, it affects the lung parenchyma, the tissue that makes the lungs work.

In bronchitis, only the bronchi are affected.

This explains why the Covid-19 gives serious cases, while the vast majority of bronchitis remain benign.

The remedy: paracetamol, tea and honey

90% of bronchitis is caused by viruses.

The influenza virus, for example, can cause bronchitis.

In the remaining 10% of cases, the bronchitis is linked to a bacterium which can then give a superinfection and degenerate, in this case, into pneumonia.

Be careful, patients and doctors alike often make the mistake of believing that bronchitis can be cured very quickly.

However, this can last a good week, or even more.

But as long as you don't have a fever anymore and don't spit from morning to night, there is no need to worry.

Bronchitis can be treated with paracetamol, tea, honey, lemon ... and a little patience.

Antibiotics are only necessary if the bronchitis is accompanied by superinfection, ear infection or sinusitis. "
