Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, known as "the naughty boy of Bollywood", confirmed that he emerged "victorious" from his battle with cancer, after speculation that continued since last August about his injury.

On his Instagram account, the 61-year-old actor, whose turbulent life was the subject of a movie, wrote: “Today, on the occasion of my children's birthday, I am happy that I have emerged victorious from this battle, and that I will be able to offer them the most beautiful gift, which is the health and happiness of our family.” .

The announcement of the "naughty boy of Bollywood" that he has recovered comes a week after he confirmed that he had cancer, the nature of which was not determined.

Last August, Dat published a statement on social media in which he stated that he was "on a short break to undergo medical treatment", prompting a group of speculation in the media.

The actor was released from prison in 2016 after four years behind bars, following a long court process.

He was convicted in 2007 of illegal possession of weapons after he received them from persons involved in the attacks in Bombay on 12 March 1993, which left 257 dead.

The actor, born to parents who were major Indian stars, also faced drug abuse problems.

Sanjay Dutt rose to fame in the 1980s with action movies, in which he directed his own dangerous scenes.

His life took a dramatic turn with his arrest after the Bombay attacks.

After being sentenced to six years in prison, he spent 18 months behind bars before being released on bail in 2007 pending an appeal ruling.

His sentence was commuted to five years in prison in 2013, and he was re-arrested before his release in early 2016 on the basis of an early release for good behavior.

The actor has been married three times, and lost his first wife, Risha, in 1996, after suffering a brain tumor.

In 2018, Dutt told the story of his troubled life in the movie "Sanju".
