Coronavirus: a PCR test -

The health authorities of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes call Thursday for the greatest vigilance vis-à-vis people at risk of developing a serious form of Covid-19 in the face of the "particularly strong dynamic" of the epidemic in the region.

The epidemic monitoring indicators are growing strongly in the four metropolitan areas of Lyon, Saint-Etienne, Grenoble and Clermont-Ferrand, as well as in all the departments of the region, underlines the Regional Health Agency in a press release.

A higher positivity rate than national rates

Thus, the incidence rate in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is over 400 per 100,000 inhabitants and the positivity rate is greater than 18%, exceeding national rates.

The incidence rate in France is 250 per 100,000 inhabitants and the positivity rate is 13.7%.

The dynamics of the epidemic in our region "are therefore particularly strong", notes the ARS.

On October 18, 1,929 patients were hospitalized and 275 were in intensive care.

This level of occupancy of resuscitation beds corresponds to a third of the level reached during the peak of the first wave, notes the ARS.

In the region, the number of clusters is also on the rise.

As of Thursday, 175 high criticality clusters have been identified, including 39 new ones.

86 clusters in nursing homes

A third of these new clusters are located in establishments welcoming dependent elderly people.

In total, 86 high criticality clusters are currently declared in these nursing homes, i.e. half of the total of the clusters in the region.

As of October 15, reports the ARS, 878 nursing homes had been screened: 27,809 residents and 32,877 professionals were concerned.

The proportion of people positive for Covid-19 was 11.9% among residents tested and 4.6% among professionals.

A large part of the clusters come from a lack of application of barrier gestures by outsiders, during visits to their relatives, according to the ARS.
