Faced with climate change and its almost unimaginable consequences, what is the European Union doing? 

In this new episode of our “Europe Story” series, produced with the All Europe site and the production agency Bulle Media, discover the history of the European “green pact” to fight against climate change and achieve neutrality carbon.

This is the climate and environmental program of the European Commission, called in English “green deal”.

The Commission's proposals are ambitious, because the European Union wants to become the first carbon neutral continent in 2050. And the coronavirus crisis has not changed this ambition.

Laws and funding

But sizeable challenges remain to carry out this project: to pass laws and binding standards to reduce carbon emissions, both by the European Parliament and the Member States.

And European countries must agree on the budget allocated to this vast transition ...
