Three days after the assault of two women with knives near the Eiffel Tower, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, the circumstances of the facts seem to become clearer.

After the identification of a first suspect on Sunday, a second woman was arrested, indicates the prosecution at

20 Minutes.

At the end of their police custody, both were presented on Wednesday to an investigating judge with a view to opening a judicial investigation on the count of voluntary violence.

They are suspected of having seriously injured two women who were walking, late Sunday afternoon, near the Champ-de-Mars, and of having uttered at least one racist insult.

It all started around 8 p.m., when the two victims were annoyed by dogs not kept on a leash.

A dispute then arose with the two owners of the animals, two women who drink heavily.

One of them then stabbed the victims before fleeing.

Later, her accomplice returned to the place where she was arrested before being placed in police custody.

An investigation was opened, entrusted to the 7th arrondissement police station.

The main suspect has since been arrested.

The racist nature of the selected aggression

The victims were transported to hospital in absolute urgency, without their vital prognosis being engaged.

Quickly, the story of this attack made the rounds of social networks.

“Yesterday evening on the Champs de Mars, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, two women were stabbed, they were wearing the headscarf.

They are said to be in critical condition today, ”notably denounced a user on Facebook, in a post shared several hundred times since its publication on Monday.

At first, the investigators had in their possession "no element allows to accredit the thesis of a racist motive or linked to the wearing of the veil", indicated to us Tuesday a judicial source.

But this Wednesday, the prosecution let it be known that it finally retains the racist nature of the attack, which constitutes an aggravating circumstance.
