On August 1, 2019, Ren Yanhong, who had been detained for 2932 days, was released.

On June 9 this year, she went to the Linyi City Intermediate Court to submit the "Application for State Compensation" and filed a state compensation of more than 6.75 million yuan.

On October 20, a reporter from the Beijing News learned from Ren Yanhong’s attorney that Ren Yanhong had received a compensation decision made by the Linyi Intermediate Court.

The decision shows that the Linyi City Intermediate People's Court finally decided to compensate Ren Yanhong 1.78 million yuan, including personal freedom compensation of 1.016 million yuan and spiritual comfort money of 764,000 yuan (approximately 75% of the personal freedom compensation).

According to the lawyer, during the negotiation, Ren Yanhong waived the follow-up treatment fees and rights protection costs.

On the day of the signing of the compensation agreement, the relevant person in charge of the Linyi City Intermediate People's Court apologized to Ren Yanhong on the spot, and Ren Yanhong gave up the request of a public apology, elimination of the impact, and restoration of reputation.

On the afternoon of the 20th, Ren Yanhong told the Beijing News that although the final compensation amount was much less than the amount applied for, she could accept it.

"I don't have high demands on the amount of compensation, but I just want to get comfort."

She has been recuperating her body at home for more than a year since she was released from prison.

"This incident is over, and I will live steadily from now on," said Ren Yanhong. She will use state compensation to build a new house for her son and do some small business by herself.

Ren Yanhong was previously accused of poisoning and killing, and was sentenced to death with a suspended death sentence twice, but the procuratorate withdrew the case.

The Beijing News previously reported that from August 2010 to July 2011, four members of Li's family in Dongling Village, Feixian County, Shandong Province, died of poisoning.

As a neighbor, Ren Yanhong has frequent contacts with Li's family.

After the incident, the Feixian Public Security Bureau identified Ren Yanhong as the suspect.

On June 4, 2013, the Linyi City Intermediate People's Court made a first-instance judgment and sentenced Ren Yanhong to a two-year death sentence with a two-year reprieve and restrict commutation.

Ren Yanhong refused to accept the appeal. On October 27, 2015, the Shandong Higher People's Court made a second-instance ruling, revoking the original judgment on the grounds of "unclear facts and insufficient evidence" and remanded the case for retrial.

After the retrial of Linyi Intermediate People's Court, on July 10, 2017, he sentenced Ren Yanhong to a two-year suspension of death sentence and restricted commutation.

Ren Yanhong appealed again, and on December 26, 2018, the Shandong Higher People's Court again revoked the original judgment and sent the case back for retrial.

On June 3, 2019, the Linyi City Procuratorate decided to withdraw the prosecution on the grounds that the evidence has changed.
