Last summer, Australia had its worst forest fire in decades, destroying 11.2 million hectares (27.7 million acres) of land, almost half the size of the United Kingdom.

A latest report shows that due to the 2019 wildfires, the number of koalas in six affected areas in northern NSW has dropped by 71%.

In New South Wales, 80% of the Blue Mountains World Heritage area was burned down, and a quarter of the land belonged to the koala habitat.

Now, another summer in the southern hemisphere is coming, and these little cuties are about to face a huge survival problem.
