China News Service, Hong Kong, October 20. The Deputy Director of the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Ruolian Cai, said on the 20th that any inappropriate teaching materials used to promote personal political stance to students, convey incorrect information or biased views, and even contain hatred and discrimination. Content that violates social moral standards, distorts facts, and misleads students is a school-based professional mechanism that abuses flexibility to adjust teaching and is absolutely unacceptable.

At the beginning of October, a teacher at Mission Primary School in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong, was deregistered for disseminating "Hong Kong independence" messages in the classroom in a planned way. This is the first time that a teacher in Hong Kong was deregistered due to professional malpractices and problematic teaching materials.

Cai Ruolian wrote an article on the 20th that the Education Bureau will seriously follow up teachers' complaints of alleged misconduct or professional malpractice.

If there is a situation that clearly violates the general moral standards of society, harms the normal learning of students, endangers the healthy growth or safety of students, etc., the Education Bureau will take appropriate actions against teachers who do not meet the requirements in accordance with the Education Regulations.

Cai Ruolian pointed out that the Bureau of Education should take appropriate actions against teachers who violate professional ethics and demand improvements. It is a responsible approach to the profession of teachers, schools, students, parents, and the entire education system.

The cancellation of the teacher registration of those who are seriously unethical and professional is to protect the well-being of students and the education profession.

Those whose teacher registration has been cancelled can also appeal under the Education Ordinance.

Cai Ruolian believes that the professionalism and integrity of teachers are the key to ensuring the quality of education.

The mechanisms for handling complaints, follow-up investigations, and punishments and appeals are all designed to help the education team stay away.

She said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and Hong Kong's education is getting back on track step by step.
