Gathered on the steps of the Palais Bourbon, all the deputies, wearing their tricolor scarf and anti-Covid-19 mask on their faces, observed a minute of silence on Tuesday in tribute to Professor Samuel Paty.

Against a background of flags at half mast and republican motto displayed in front of the columns of the Palais Bourbon, the President of the Assembly Richard Ferrand (LREM) invited to this minute of silence in memory of this professor "brutally murdered".

The Republican Guard then played a few bars of the Marseillaise.

A tribute to the Sorbonne

From the far left with Jean-Luc Mélenchon, to the far right with Marine Le Pen, the entire political spectrum was represented.

A new minute of silence was observed in the hemicycle at 3 p.m. for deputies and government, at the start of the session.

A large part of the questions to the government were devoted to this Islamist attack that occurred on Friday in the Yvelines.

At 6.30 p.m., a white march must take place in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, on the eve of the national tribute which will be paid Wednesday from 7.30 p.m. to Samuel Paty in the Cour de la Sorbonne in the presence of the head of Emmanuel Macron State.

Tuesday morning, 16 people were in custody, including five schoolchildren, to understand how the assailant, the 18-year-old Chechen Russian refugee Abdullakh Anzorov, was able to easily find and identify his target before beheading it near his Conflans-Sainte-Honorine establishment.
