[Explanation] On October 20, 2020 China-Japan-Korea (Chengdu) SME Economic and Trade Innovation Summit opened in Chengdu.

During the conference, more than 200 representatives from government departments, business associations and enterprises from China, Japan and South Korea carried out exchanges and cooperation in areas such as new economy, health services, and cross-border e-commerce through a combination of online and offline methods.

[Explanation] It is understood that up to now, Chengdu has sorted out 80 key demonstration projects for cooperation with Japan, involving a cooperative investment of more than 90 billion yuan. There are 369 Korean-funded enterprises registered in Chengdu, of which 13 are Fortune 500 companies. .

With the theme of "Joining Hands with New Models, Innovating to Win the Future", this event aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises in China, Japan and South Korea get out of the low period of the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

Nobuyuki Watanabe, the consul general of the Japanese Consulate in Chongqing, said that one of the biggest challenges the epidemic has brought to small and medium-sized enterprises in China, Japan and South Korea lies in the inconvenience of personnel exchanges. However, as the epidemic prevention and control is normalized today, the epidemic has greatly affected the exchanges and cooperation of enterprises in the three countries. The impact is gradually decreasing.

Therefore, in such a very inconvenient situation, not only small and medium-sized enterprises, but also large Japanese companies are the same. The source of personnel in each industry is very limited.

So far, what many people in Japan's economic circles are doing is (that is) using Japanese entrepreneurs who live in China to carry out their usual activities.

After the epidemic in China has stabilized relatively, they (Japanese entrepreneurs) have slowly returned to various parts of China, and (now) they have recovered to a level of 80 to 90%.

[Explanation] In Watanabe Nobuyuki's view, this summit has built a high-efficiency communication platform for SMEs in the three countries, which is conducive to knowing the latest information in their respective fields and conducting exchanges and cooperation.

Such (communication) opportunities are very effective because they usually communicate through their own efforts, but such communication is very limited.

A conference like today is a very good platform. On this platform, Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises will participate in such (the summit) together. In a short period of time, they can learn about the current situation in Chengdu very efficiently, and they are also very helpful to their company’s related fields. The latest information is accessible.

[Explanation] Song Zhiyong, director of the Asian Institute of the Institute of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce of China, said in his speech that the "post-epidemic era" China, Japan, and South Korea has a broad field of cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises, and the Chinese market has huge potential. Internet, health care, public health, and intelligence Investment fields such as manufacturing and 5G may all become areas of cooperation between China, Japan and South Korea.

The government level should support SMEs in the three countries to carry out business innovation and business model innovation cooperation in platform construction and financing.

[Explanation] Li Bingzhi, chief representative of the Chengdu Representative Office of Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Corporation, said that China officially implemented the Foreign Investment Law on January 1, 2020, and provided foreign-invested companies in China with the same treatment as Chinese companies. Korean companies welcome these laws and Measures, more Korean companies hope to enter the Chinese market.

There are a lot of activities planned for this year. Basically, we are medical cosmetology, aviation accessories, hardware and electromechanical, IT, artificial intelligence, and all industry sectors. This is a key industry sector that the government pays special attention to. We are preparing several activities.

However, they did not come over because of the epidemic that started in January, so we have been providing them with information online in the first half of the year.

In the second half of this year, we slowly began to connect online and offline activities.

In the first half of next year, there are many Korean companies, no matter what kind of industry, they have been waiting (not enough) to come here to inspect the market and then meet with their Chinese partners.
