The school should not rise from the ground for a few years.

But once erected, the new school group will bear the name of “Samuel Paty”, this 47-year-old teacher who was the victim of a terrorist attack last Friday in the Yvelines.

This is how Pascal Charmot, the mayor of Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, a town near Lyon, decided to pay tribute to the decapitated professor.

“His name was Samuel Paty, he was a teacher and his name should not be forgotten.

He died, brutally murdered, for simply having applied the civic education program in a 4th year class at the Bois d'Aulne college in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

Murdered for having taught Freedom, ”the town hall said in a statement on Monday.

The school that will bear his name is to be built on the land of the Maraîchers in the Liberation district, as part of a real estate program also including a park, housing and a nursery.
