This man, unfavorably known to the police, had been identified by investigators as the driver of the car which ran over an agent in Savigny-sur-Orge, seriously injuring him.

The facts took place around 1:30 a.m.

A crew of the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) wanted to check the identity of people considered "suspicious near a vehicle that turned out to be stolen", according to the prosecution.

The driver then started "suddenly" and "hit" a police brigadier-chief, "before running over him to flee," detailed the prosecutor of Evry, Caroline Nisand, in a statement.

The 40-year-old victim suffers from a broken leg and head trauma.

He had been taken to hospital in serious condition.
