The Empress celebrated her 86th birthday on the 20th.

At the end of March, the Empress moved from the Imperial Palace to a temporary residence in Minato-ku, Tokyo, and refrained from going out or inviting acquaintances amid concerns about the spread of the new coronavirus infection. I am spending quiet days in Tokyo.

According to the Imperial Household Agency, there are people who pay attention to the hard work of medical professionals and the dedication of people who support their daily lives at risk of infection, restrict their livelihoods, and refrain from activities such as sports and music. I am worried about the difficult situation.

On the other hand, since May, almost every day, the body temperature exceeds 37 degrees in the afternoon and the symptoms of unexplained return to normal fever continue the next morning. Recently, the left hand seems to be due to hormone therapy after breast cancer surgery. You can also see the stiffness of your fingers.

Under such circumstances, most of the daily time is spent on supporting the elderly emeritus by being close to him, and he is paying close attention so that he can spend his days happily so that he will not be inconvenienced.

It is also my daily routine to read aloud books with the Emperor after breakfast, which I have been doing for a long time, and to read letters and books sent by many people.

Also, during the morning and evening walks with the Emperor, he spends a calm time looking back on his days and looking at the flowers blooming in the garden, and at times, "Amabie", which is said to protect people from plague, is drawn. It means that some civilian aircraft may not fly over or be looked up.

The birthday of the Empress is that the celebration will be postponed and the celebration with her family will not be surrounded, given that many people are in a difficult situation due to the new coronavirus.

First public release of video at Sento Imperial Palace

On the occasion of the Empress's birthday, the Imperial Household Agency unveiled for the first time a video of the Empress spending time with her at the Sento Imperial Palace, where she temporarily resides.

This video was taken on the evening of the 5th of this month when the two of us took a walk in the garden of the Sento Imperial Palace in Minato-ku, Tokyo.

Osmanthus fragrans trees are planted in the garden, and the Emperor and his wife are exchanging words with a smile while looking at the fragrant trees.
