[Commentary] Cai Hongliang is a veteran of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. He is 87 years old and vividly remembers the history of the war.

68 years ago, when he was only 19 years old, he officially became a Chinese People's Volunteer Army fighter.

  In October 1952, I became a Chinese People's Volunteer Army (fighter), working in the Transportation Oil Section of the 61st Division of Antiaircraft Artillery, and fighting alongside the Korean people.

  We are responsible for two major things, one is fuel and the other is automotive materials.

Ensure that the supplies (materials) for the war ahead are available.

(Enemies) bombing day and night, we are always in danger.

  [Explanation] During an oil transportation mission, he was bombed by a US military aircraft and the transportation vehicle rolled over. He was also seriously injured in this accident.

  At that time, the American plane spotted the vehicles on our transportation line and carried out blasting and bombardment. (So) we accelerated and started driving. As a result (the vehicle drove to the bridge, and the people and the vehicle rolled over under the bridge. I was seriously injured. At that time, I had difficulty breathing and was unconscious, (medical staff) rescued, and later sent me back to China (for treatment).

  [Explanation] After several months, Cai Hongliang's body gradually recovered. At this moment, he insisted on going to the front again.

  I'm still young. I can't lose my fighting spirit because of injury. I'm determined to continue participating in the battle.

I think I am the most lovable person, who is not afraid of hardship and death.

  [Explanation] At 10 o'clock in the morning on July 27, 1953, Cai Hongliang and his comrades were extremely excited and lamented the hard-won peace after hearing the news that the "Korea Armistice Agreement" was signed.

Today, what Mr. Cai cherishes most is a medal of honor engraved with "Long Live Peace".

This "peace dove medal" is a medal issued by the Chinese people's mission to North Korea. The peace dove symbolizes "peace", peace in China and peace in the world.

  [Explanation] In 1969, Cai Hongliang officially retired from the army and returned to his hometown in Zhenjiang after decades of absence. He worked as a skilled worker and prepared for the Zhenjiang Coking Plant laboratory and other departments. In his later years, he "turned to the art stage".
