An exhibition of works by Sosuke Namikawa, who was said to be a master craftsman of cloisonne ware in the Meiji era, is being held in Asahi City, Chiba Prefecture, where he was born.

Sosuke Namikawa was originally from Asahi City, and completed a new technique for cloisonne ware in the Meiji era, and was highly evaluated both at home and abroad.

At the venue, Ohara Yugaku Memorial Hall in Asahi City, 21 works such as Hamakawa's Cloisonne are on display.

Of these, "Nami Takazugaku" depicts a hawk in a rocky area on the shore, and the strength of the hawk that does not move even in the rough waves is impressive.

This work was exhibited at the Paris Expo in 1902, and this time it was released for the first time in Japan.

In addition, "Yanagi ni Tsubamezukabin" (Yanagi / Tsubamezukabin) has a delicate depiction of a willow tree and a flying swallow in a vase with a pale background.

Eriko Ino of the Ohara Yugaku Memorial Hall said, "It is a valuable opportunity to see so many works in Japan. I want you to come and see an excellent technique that is different from ordinary daily necessities."

This exhibition is open until December 20th at the Ohara Yugaku Memorial Hall in Asahi City, Chiba Prefecture.
