【Explanation】Recently, the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government of Guangdong Province commended 40 innovative entrepreneurs and advanced models of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

Hu Yingxiang, chairman of Hong Kong Hopewell Industrial Co., Ltd., was selected.

In an interview on October 15th, Hu Yingxiang said that he was very happy just to learn that he won the award. What made him more gratified was the rapid development of Shenzhen after the reform and opening up, and the vicissitudes of China in the past 40 years.

(Received this award) I'm so happy!

Although my awards are incredible!

None of this is important. The most important thing is that I see 1.4 billion people living standards are at least much higher than 40 years ago.

There is no nation in the history of the world that can achieve this level in such a short period of time. Not some people, but most people, have been lifted out of poverty.

[Explanation] Hu Yingxiang contributed a lot to the development of Shenzhen. He was the "first person" in the conception of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

In 1978, when the horn of China's reform and opening up was sounded, he began to study the Pearl River Delta region and had many discussions with the then Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee Liang Xiang.

In the 1980s, almost all of the projects Hu Yingxiang invested and constructed were at the forefront of the times, such as the construction of the Hehe Center, the tallest building in Asia at the time, preparations for the construction of the first joint venture hotel in the Mainland after the reform and opening up-Guangzhou China Hotel, investment The first joint venture expressway in the Mainland, etc.

(In the early stage of reform and opening up) I told myself all day long that Shenzhen’s reform and opening up may reach a relatively high level in 100 years, but everything must start first. Liang Xiang and I said that we should do these things at the beginning, let’s do it first The (Hong Kong-Shenzhen) Joint Inspection Building was completed and the Huanggang Port was opened to traffic. These two are the busiest customs clearance ports in the world.

I also built the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway Network, Humen Bridge, and two other power plants, Shajiao Plant B and Plant C. So yesterday I saw that Shenzhen’s GDP was higher than that of Hong Kong. I was very pleased.

Now I am sitting here. I estimated that it would take 100 years. Based on the experience of Japan (Development), but (Shenzhen) has achieved this level in 40 years. I feel very happy.

[Explanation] Hu Yingxiang believes that Deng Xiaoping, the "chief architect of reform and opening up", has truly changed the historical destiny of the Chinese people.

Before 1978, the Chinese mainland implemented a national distribution work system, and the people were not very motivated to work. The reform and opening policy changed the distribution work system to allow some people to get rich first and maximize the contribution of talents to society. Hu Yingxiang believes this is the key to Shenzhen's success.

The key to Shenzhen's success was actually that Deng Xiaoping broke the key to the work assigned by the Labor Bureau.

And in this talent development, not only high-tech talents we need, but middle-tech, ordinary, and even migrant workers who have come out of the countryside have also played their roles.

Therefore, the success of Shenzhen is that everyone at the upper, middle and lower levels is exerting motivation.

[Explanation] Hu Yingxiang said frankly that Shenzhen has created an economic miracle that is rare in the world in the past 40 years, and the future development of Shenzhen will only be better.

Young people in Hong Kong should expand their horizons. They should not only develop in Hong Kong, but should focus on the Mainland and integrate into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

[Concurrent] Hu Yingxiang, Chairman of Hong Kong Hopewell Industrial Co., Ltd.

I believe that the Mainland is the future of Hong Kong’s young people.

The development of the Greater Bay Area (Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau) is very large. Since there is such an (opportunity) here, and there is an established and stable policy, the future development of this (Greater Bay Area) is incredible.

The future of Hong Kong depends on whether you are willing to integrate into the Greater Bay Area. If you continue to be arrogant and do not improve on your own shortcomings, this area will continue to develop and you will fall behind.

This area faces the world, with the support of more than one billion people behind.
