We often hear that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

90% of French people consider it essential.

But what to eat to get the most out of your day?

If you are not hungry, do you have to force yourself?

Laurence Horat, psychologist and dietitian, author of the book

Et If You Found (Finally) Your Ideal Weight?

shares his advice at the microphone of Europe 1.

Find the perfect time

"A good breakfast is first and foremost one that is taken at the right time."

The best way to know this schedule, explains Laurence Horat, is to get up several days in a row at the same time, not to swallow anything when you wake up and wait to see when you are hungry.

"You don't necessarily have breakfast when you get up. It can be a quarter of an hour or half an hour after getting up. It doesn't have to be very late, it depends on each person. "

It's when the gurgling sounds ring out and a state of weakness begins to kick in that it's time to consume some energy.

A balanced and nourishing meal

If you start to feel hungry in the middle of the morning after getting up at 7 a.m., you can very well skip breakfast before leaving home but then prepare fresh fruit, almonds or dried fruits. to eat once at work.

What ultimately matters is that it remains a balanced and nourishing breakfast: after a night's sleep and eight hours of fasting, our body needs energy.

So what is a nutritious breakfast?

In terms of diet, explains Laurence Horat, the pitfalls to be avoided are too sweet cereals and too fatty pastries.

Otherwise, you can eat anything: toast with butter, cheese, ham, an egg for those who like salty, rusks with jam or spread.

The whole thing is that there is a drink, slow sugars, like bread or cereals.

For children, it is better to provide a dairy product.

Ideally, the juice is replaced by a fresh fruit, less sweet and more satiating.
