China News Service, Hong Kong, October 15. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government strongly opposed the report issued by the US Secretary of State on October 14 (US time) under the so-called "Hong Kong Autonomy Act."

A spokesperson for the SAR government pointed out that the report made baseless and irresponsible accusations against the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, which the SAR government strongly condemned.

According to the Information Service of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government stated that the United States has increasingly blatantly intervened in Hong Kong affairs in recent months, including passing a series of laws, issuing executive orders, and imposing enforcement on government officials under the pretext of human rights, democracy and autonomy. "Sanctions".

For the report issued by the US authorities, which made baseless and irresponsible accusations against the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the SAR government strongly condemned it.

The spokesperson said that the SAR government has repeatedly reiterated its firm position on the intervention of the United States, and it absolutely does not agree with the comments in the report aimed at discrediting and demonizing the "National Security Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China" (Hong Kong National Security Law).

Since the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, Hong Kong’s society has returned to stability, national security has been guaranteed in the SAR, and citizens can again enjoy basic rights and freedoms in accordance with the law.

This is a fact that the US authorities cannot ignore.

The spokesperson also refuted the report's unfounded questioning of Hong Kong law enforcement agencies.

The US threat to impose “sanctions” on financial institutions and SAR government officials, the spokesperson considered another example of US hegemonism.

The spokesman pointed out that the SAR government formally made representations to the US government in September and strongly opposed the new US regulations on the origin marking of Hong Kong goods.

If the United States refuses to withdraw the relevant regulations and the bilateral discussions fail to reach a satisfactory result, the SAR government will take action against the United States in accordance with the WTO dispute settlement mechanism.

In this regard, the permanent representative of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to the World Trade Organization clearly expressed Hong Kong’s position at the World Trade Organization General Council meeting on October 13 (Swiss time).

In addition, in response to media enquiries about the recent remarks made by the US Secretary of State on the arrest of 12 Hong Kong residents in the Mainland, the spokesperson said that the US Secretary of State has blatantly ignored the basic facts.
