[Commentary] On October 14th, at the 4th Pingyao International Film Festival in Shanxi, the returnee filmmaker Wang Danting was busy with the premiere of the movie "Like a Dream of Jinyang", which was the first theater-line film she served as chief producer after returning to China works.
Wang Danting liked audio-visual language since she was a child. At the age of 17, she went to high school in the UK and obtained a master's degree from Kingston University in London.
In 2009, Wang Danting and two partners jointly founded Vientiane Culture Co., Ltd. in the United Kingdom, and held the first Vientiane International Chinese Film Festival in the same year. The slogan of the festival was "Chinese Video, Impress the World".
[Concurrent] Wang Danting: A total of three of us were working on this project, which was the largest Chinese film festival in Europe at that time.
Then our main function at that time was to build a bridge between China and Britain, so that more high-quality film talents and film works can be built through our bridge, and they can make their mark overseas.
[Explanation] In 2018, Wang Danting, who is already well-known in the local British film industry, decided to return to his hometown of Shanxi to continue his film career.
[Contemporary] Wang Danting: It is to pay attention to our hometown has a very good talent policy, or that this kind of attention to overseas Chinese has never been reduced, and then I encountered a very good platform, and then We have matched a great project with Shanxi Film and Television Group.
In 2019, we really entered this type of cooperation, and then we spent a long time polishing the script of the early stage ("Like a Dream of Jinyang").
[Explanation] "Like a Dream of Jinyang" tells the story of the various ideological collisions and the unsuitability of life that occurred after the overseas students working overseas in the background of the new era returned to their hometowns, and then to the later development of staying in their hometowns .
Wang Danting said that he wants to let more overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese understand the development of their ancestral (home) country and participate in it through their own stories.
[Concurrent] Wang Danting: I still hope that more, especially during the epidemic, there will be more overseas Chinese, that is, people from all corners of the world can have a new look on our China after seeing us, and let more overseas Chinese The Chinese see that there is actually a big difference between China and what they imagined.
From the perspective of service, whether it is about human resources service or for returning people like us to serve their hometown, it should actually be done.
