Loïck wants to promote solar heating -

  • Thanks to the status of “student entrepreneur”, an engineer from Nantes is about to set up his company.

  • Loïck Kalioudjoglou, 27, wants to democratize the still marginal solution of hot air solar heating.

Often chosen for the start of heating, October 15 is expected by many French people who have released their plaids.

But it is also a great day for Loïck Kalioudjoglou: this doctor in energy will attend the Pépite awards ceremony this Thursday evening, a device carried by the University of Nantes which will reward the best student entrepreneurship projects.

The 27-year-old young man, a Polytech Nantes graduate, hopes to seduce the jury with his hot air solar heating project.

Thanks to the status of "student entrepreneur", a little-known device obtained each year by around 140 young people (during their studies or just after) in Pays-de-la-Loire, Loïck is on the verge of creating his company which aims to democratize this ecological solution.

“The idea is to capture the sunlight and restore its heat to the home,” says the engineer, who followed a personalized five-month support program.

Fixed in the wall, the panel is composed of a glass pane that lets the rays through.

Behind, slates will play the role of heat absorber.

In between, a small fan helps the indoor air to circulate, to warm up.

Make it "accessible to all"

If the aerothermal heating process already existed, this is a simplified version, inspired by the “low tech” movement, in order to make it “accessible to all”.

By setting up his company, called Enerlog, Loïck will produce panels but above all wants to run construction workshops (with recycled materials) so that individuals and craftsmen are made aware of this process.

“There is a lack of understanding, a fear of scams when it comes to heating,” says Loïck.

People need to reclaim the subject.

»And achieve energy savings: according to the engineer, a panel (which must complement another heating solution, because depending on the weather) would reduce the bill by 25% for a room of 40 m2.

Arguments that the young man was able to break in during his courses in law, accounting, or even marketing provided during his support.

“The objective is to move from a project to a company, even if it is not a goal at all costs, explains Vincent Gourlaouen, manager of the Pépite (student center for innovation, transfer and entrepreneurship) of Pays-de-la-Loire.

Most importantly, they acquire strong entrepreneurial skills, developing often innovative ideas, like Loick's.

For the engineer, one of the most difficult challenges to overcome was to bridge this big gap between the thesis defense and the pitch.

Giving up a job as an engineer in a large company, as he could have claimed, was easier.

“My studies lacked this ecological component.

With this project, I find meaning.
