  • The CanneSeries festival is the only major event devoted to series to have been held this year in France.

  • The organizers believe that the new rules, and in particular the posting of certain content online, will continue.

Stars, series and barrier gestures.

In the middle of the Covid-19 year, and despite the constraints linked to the health crisis, the third “very special” season of the CanneSeries festival will lower the curtain this Wednesday evening on a “positive” balance, insists Benoît Louvet.

And the director of the only meeting in France devoted to series to have been held against all odds this year explains to

20 Minutes

that this episode, also organized online, could well serve as a standard for future events.

And especially for the next edition, from April 9 to 14, 2021.

Organizers want to keep some of the content online

“As with the metal detector gantries after the first attacks in 2001, our sanitary gantries [with temperature control, disinfection, etc.] will be part of the landscape.

No one can already predict exactly what situation we will live in next April, but health measures will undoubtedly remain, in the long term, ”explains the official.

“Our live platform and our webcam master classes will also continue, even beyond the fourth edition,” he continues.

We tried, forced this year, and we finally adopted it.

This allows us to have more content, with personalities who could not have come to Cannes, and to reach more audiences.

"In a very complicated context"

Tuesday, the organizers did not wish to disclose their attendance figures.

But, according to our observations, the room of the Grand auditorium has sometimes had difficulty filling, despite the free admission of the festival and a lowered gauge from 2.309 to 1,000 spectators, distancing measures oblige.

Online attendance levels were also not disclosed, despite requests for

.

“These numbers couldn't be compared to anything.

The important thing is to have been able to offer a great event with talent, with the public in a very complicated context, ”insists Benoît Louvet.

The 1,200 (small) overnight stays generated by the event will have balm the hearts of tourism professionals, undermined by the cascading cancellations of events.

“It's already huge.

It was pink in the middle of the night.

And it was also an opportunity to reassure perhaps about our ability to welcome visitors in complete safety, ”notes Christine Welter, President of Cannes hoteliers.
