Singer Yoo Seung-joon (Steve Yu) made a public protest inquiries to the South Korean Military Manpower Administration chief who insisted that the entry ban should continue.

On his SNS on the 13th, Yoo Seung-jun said, "I am still sorry for not keeping my promise to go to the military in 2002 and disappointing many people." , Even now, 18 years and 7 months later, it is not fair to continue refusing to enter Korea with the same logic as at the time,” he appealed.

On the same day, the Military Manpower Administration Commissioner Mo Jong-hwa, asked by Rep. Lee Chae-ik at the National Assembly's National Defense Committee's audit of the country's national administration, said, "Despite the imposition of military service in 2002, despite the imposition of military service, he obtained US citizenship and obtained US citizenship within a week. They were evacuated, and when the Korean government refused to issue a visa, we are currently in an administrative lawsuit.” He stated that the entry ban should be maintained.

Regarding this, Seung-Jun Yoo said, "Even in the last five years, more than 20,000 people have acquired foreign nationality and their obligations for military service have been canceled. About 4,000 people a year. However, it is considered that citizenship has been acquired for the purpose of evading military service. "I am the first and last person in the history of the Republic of Korea to be banned from entering the country," he protested, saying, "Before the law, the rich or the poor, the powerful or the not, the famous and the unknown, everyone should be equal."

Yoo Seung-jun said, "In the lawsuit that lasted for five years, the Supreme Court decided to issue me a visa. Yet, the government recently refused to issue a visa for me again, and today, the Military Manpower Administration continues the ban on entry. I am very sorry to say that it should be done, and I think it is unfair.”

Meanwhile, Yoo Seung-joon gave up his Korean nationality and obtained US citizenship after leaving Korea in 2002 before joining the military.

Accordingly, the Military Manpower Administration requested a ban on entry to the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Justice decided to ban entry.

After that, Yoo Seung-jun applied for the issuance of an overseas Korean visa (F-4), and after a lawsuit with the Consulate General of Los Angeles, he received a final judgment in the Supreme Court in March.

However, in July, the Consulate General of Los Angeles filed a lawsuit again for refusing to issue a visa.

The following is the full text of Seungjun Yoo.

Chief of the Military Manpower Administration.

The head of the Korean Military Manpower Administration announced today at the National Assembly's National Assembly audit that the ban on entry to me should be maintained.

For that reason, even though I have repeatedly promised to fulfill my military service, I obtained US citizenship and left my military service obligation, and I was told that if I entered the country, the sense of loss would be great for soldiers.

I am still sorry that I did not keep my promise to go to the military in 2002 and disappointed many people.

However, I don't think it's fair to take measures to ban entry into the country indefinitely for reasons such as security guarantees in the Republic of Korea, and continue to refuse entry with the same logic as at the time even after 18 years and 7 months.

When I debuted in Korea, I had already immigrated to the United States with my family, and I was a permanent resident who lived in the United States for a long time, and I worked as a Korean citizen living in the United States.

At that time, there was no institutional consideration for permanent residents as they do now in military service, so in order to be able to live with their family without losing their permanent residency, there was a situation where they had to acquire citizenship.

Eventually, after persuasion and a lot of thoughts by my family, I acquired citizenship at the last minute, but there was no violation in the process.

We understand that it is not illegal for a permanent resident to acquire citizenship.

So, is it illegal to change your mind?

Or is it illegal to keep promises?

Even in the last five years, more than 20,000 people have acquired foreign nationality and their obligations for military service have been cancelled.

It is about 4,000 people a year.

However, I am the first and the last in the history of the Republic of Korea to have been banned from entering the country because it was deemed to have obtained citizenship for the purpose of evading military service.

Even though before the law, the rich and the poor, the powerful and the less, the famous and the unknown, everyone should be equal.

I am not a person who is concerned about harming the interests of the Republic of Korea such as security, order maintenance, public welfare, diplomatic relations, etc.

I am not a criminal, I am not a powerful man or a chaebol, and I am not a politician.

I'm just a powerless entertainer who was very popular for a while.

Even if I am called Steve Euro, not Yoo Seung-jun, the fact that my roots are in Korea and that I am one of many overseas Koreans who miss my home country does not change.

There is a mistake in failing to keep the promises made as a celebrity, but it is a discrimination and human rights violation that prevents the government from entering the Republic of Korea for decades of security guarantees.

In a five-year lawsuit, the Supreme Court ruled that a visa must be issued to me.

Nevertheless, it is very regrettable that the government recently refused to issue a visa to me again, and today the Commissioner of the Military Manpower Administration announced that the entry ban should be maintained.

We look forward to the court's correct judgment on the recent re-filed lawsuit.
