"I am proud of this youth"

The show continues to attract many applicants.

Philippe Etchebest explains to Philippe Vandel that he had to choose from 108 suitors, and therefore tasted so many dishes.

"There is a selection of young amateurs and apprentices, but the proportion of apprentices is higher," explains the Meilleur Ouvrier de France.

"I realize that there are still many very motivated young people. I am extremely proud of these young people who surpass themselves and strive for excellence".

Among these candidates, Philippe Etchebest will find himself facing an astonishing and moving duo: Ben and Hassan, two Israeli and Palestinian cook friends.

"I don't know anything about the life of the candidates, I discovered it during the filming, explains the chef. We realize that the kitchen brings people together and unites. It's a very beautiful message."

"You piss me off with your thermometers!"

In this season, the thunderous chef has also found a new reason to get annoyed: the growing role of technology in the kitchen.

And in particular these probes which allow the temperature of a pan to be monitored.

"Stop with this bullshit, you piss me off with your thermometers! Learn how to cook first," says Philippe Etchebest with his famous outspokenness.

"The proof: on the show, when this material malfunctions, young people are lost."

Philippe Etchebest takes the opportunity to come back to one of his specificities in

Objectif Top Chef

: his quasi-martial tone.

"People need a framework, I am convinced of it," he explains.

"But they also need an example. Motivation is often contagious, for example."

According to him, one way of preparing candidates for

Top Chef,

"an extremely difficult competition".
