Strengthening crackdowns on illegal drug smuggling, etc. To aggregate investigation information nationwide Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare October 12, 8:11

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's Drug Control Department plans to develop a system that aggregates and analyzes investigation information from bases nationwide in order to strengthen the control of smuggling of illegal drugs, which is increasing.

Last year, 595 people were arrested for smuggling illegal drugs such as stimulants and cannabis, an increase of nearly 60% from the previous year, the highest ever.

On the other hand, highly anonymous sites on the Internet are used for smuggling transactions, and the scope of investigation often goes beyond the jurisdiction of the bases of the drug control departments nationwide, so strengthening cooperation is required.

For this reason, the Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to establish a system to collect investigation information by connecting nine bases nationwide, including Kanto, Kinki, and Kyushu.

This system is currently used to collect statistical data, but the modification will allow the investigation information to be shared and analyzed between bases.

In addition, it is no longer necessary to check the investigation information, which took about 11 days per case, and the data provided by the National Police Agency can be shared nationwide, so the efficiency of the investigation can be expected.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare plans to include the expenses required for system maintenance in the budget request for the next fiscal year and aim to operate it from the 4th year of Reiwa.
