Advice for men ... a simple blood test protects against major troubles

The President of the Emirates Oncology Society, Dr. Hamid Al Shamsi, emphasized that early detection is the key to treating prostate cancer.

If the disease is in its early stages and less severe, strong treatments will not be required, and then patient survival rates will rise to about 100%.

He pointed out that "if the disease is left undetected and transmitted to other parts of the body, the five-year survival rate drops dramatically to 30%."

Al Shamsi added: "Every man over the age of 45 should undergo a prostate specific antigen (PSA) test, which is a simple blood test used to detect prostate cancer, which helps in early detection."

Prostate cancer symptoms usually appear during the later stages of the disease.

So doctors recommend genetic testing for men who have a strong family history of cancer, such as prostate, breast, pancreatic or colon cancer, in order to better understand these risks.
