The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced Friday, during a visit to the Territoire-de-Belfort, the opening of 4,000 beds on demand in French hospitals, from December.

"From next week, I will release an envelope of 50 million additional euros so as to be able to open up to 4,000 beds in all hospitals in our country", Olivier Véran told the press, on the sidelines of a visit to the Nord Franche-Comté hospital in Trévenans (Territoire-de-Belfort).

This measure, promised within the framework of the Ségur de la santé, will be effective "from the month of December and before if necessary", he added, "because there is urgency to be able to do lower the pressure in hospitals and create space where there is space ”.

"We must have beds on demand that we are able to open when necessary and close if the sanitary pressure decreases", so "that we never run out of beds when we need them. », Explained the minister.

Olivier Véran inaugurated on Friday the new Nord Franche-Comté hospital, which has 4,500 staff and welcomes patients from the Belfort and Montbéliard sector, halfway between the two towns in the East.
