Between the young girl who finishes her novitiate and the little girls who think more about going out to party than looking after their offspring, the relationships are not always obvious.

In Argentina, abortion is prohibited, which explains the number of forced births for these girls who are still minors.

At the heart of the home

This first fictional feature film by a director from the documentary plunges into their daily lives with palpable compassion.

Maura Delpero gave cinema lessons in one of these homes before writing her screenplay.

“It saved me from being perceived as an invading foreign body and I managed to integrate myself into this community,” she explains in the press kit, making the most of the talent of non-female actresses. professionals and seasoned actresses to paint a picture of a group of women with ideals as different as their reactions.

To be a mother or not

One of the moms has a hard time managing her little girl, to whom the nun quickly becomes attached.

“

Confronting the precocious motherhood of girls with the motherhood absent from sisters is a very special situation

,

” she

explains.

The relationships between these young women who are cheated by older nuns, sometimes severe, turn sour between latent jealousy and open rivalry.

Immature girls confronted with responsibilities that they struggle to assume are at the center of a plot that makes viewers go from compassion to annoyance in the face of these lost heroines.

Painful choices

"Adolescent motherhood seemed to me to be an extreme situation in which the contradictory feelings, which many women have towards motherhood and which they do not dare to admit, are more evident", insists the filmmaker.

The questioning of the heroines and their painful choices of life are shown in a way as sober as poignant in this work devoid of melodramatic effects.
