Fans of the Japanese designer will be able to bid him farewell.

A public tribute to Kenzo Takada, who died Sunday at the age of 81 as a result of Covid-19, is organized from Tuesday to Thursday in Paris, one of his close collaborators told AFP.

“Kenzo left this Sunday, and leaves us in immeasurable pain.

You will be able to come and collect yourselves all, and pay him a last tribute at La maison funéraire à Paris ”, in the 11th arrondissement, detailed Ruth Obadia, alongside the designer for several decades.

The funeral "will take place in the strictest privacy," she added.

The first Japanese designer to win in Paris

Born February 27, 1939 in Himeji near Osaka, Kenzo Takada arrived in France in January 1965, and never left.

He is the first Japanese designer to have established himself in Paris, where he has made his entire career and made his name famous.

The designer, famous for his graphic and floral prints, sold his clothing brand to the giant LVMH in 1993, and retired from fashion six years later.

After 20 years of "semi-retirement", he returned at the beginning of 2020 to launch a design line.
