Agriculture Minister Julien Denormandie said on Sunday that the State would support the agrifood sector, and in particular the wine sector, in the event of the closure of bars and restaurants, as it had done at the time of confinement.

Faced with the progression of the Covid-19 epidemic, the government should announce on Sunday the closure of bars in Paris as early as next week.

Restaurants still hope to escape it thanks to a reinforced health protocol.

Poor wine

"We will be alongside the agri-food sector", which will benefit from the "necessary support", declared the minister on France 3, recalling that the wine sector, "deeply impacted during the confinement", had received on its own "exceptional aid of 250 million euros ”.

"What worries me the most today are the suppliers in bars and restaurants, these short circuits, these spirits, wine, and all these sectors, they must be supported and they will be", Julien Denormandie is committed.

The coronavirus, a natural disaster?

The minister also spoke of the fate of the farmers and breeders of the Alpes-Maritimes, victims of torrential rains which deprive them of access to their crops or their animals, ensuring there too that the State "will be next to all those who are victims of this natural disaster ”.

The state of natural disaster, which allows victims to be compensated, must be declared Wednesday in the Council of Ministers, he said.
