The buckwheat flowers are in bloom in the Amano district of Katsuragi Town, Wakayama Prefecture, where the World Heritage site Niutsuhime Shrine is located.



In this area, a local volunteer group has been cultivating buckwheat using fallow land for 13 years in an attempt to revitalize the area.



This year, seeds were sown in five fields in the district, a total of 70 ares, in late August, and small white flowers began to bloom around the end of last month.



Now it is in full bloom and is in full bloom.



The buckwheat flowers can be enjoyed until the middle of this month, and in the end of the month, they will bear brown fruits and reach the harvest time.



Chiaki Taniguchi, chairman of the volunteer group, said, "I want to make special products using buckwheat noodles and use them for the development of the region."



The harvested soba will be shipped to local restaurants and accommodations, and will also be used for soba making experiences for tourists visiting Niutsuhime Shrine.
