Live pig production from September to December is expected to increase by 17.3% year-on-year

  Experts judged that meat prices may be lower than the same period last year

  According to the news from our newspaper (Reporter Zhang Qin), in response to the current recovery of my country's live pig production and the supply of pork in the pork market, the latest statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs show that my country's pork prices have fallen for four consecutive weeks since September.

Among them, in the fourth week of September (September 21 to September 27), the price of pork in the national bazaar was 54.12 yuan per kilogram, down 1.6% month-on-month and 5.52 yuan lower than the highest price in mid-February.

According to expert simulation studies, the number of live pigs for slaughter from September to December this year will increase month by month, an increase of 17.3% over the same period last year. The average pork price is expected to be lower than the same period last year.

  The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that, driven by the market and policies, the supply of live pigs in the market has gradually improved.

Since the beginning of this year, the enthusiasm of pig farmers to supplement slaughter and increase pigs is very high, and the production of pigs has recovered quickly.

According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, in June and July, two important turning points for the recovery of live pig production emerged one after another, namely, the breeding of sows and the stock of live pigs have achieved year-on-year growth.

In August, the stock of reproductive sows increased by 3.5% month-on-month, 11 consecutive months of growth, and a year-on-year increase of 37%; pig stocks increased by 4.7% month-on-month, and increased for 7 consecutive months, a year-on-year increase of 31.3%.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, following this trend, it is confident that the annual hog production capacity will be basically restored to near normal levels.

  According to Xinhua News Agency, the monitoring and analysis of Jiangxi Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs showed that as of the end of August 2020, the number of live pigs in Jiangxi Province reached 13.96 million, a year-on-year increase of 62.72%.

Since the decline and recovery in September 2019, Jiangxi's pig production capacity has increased month-on-month for 12 consecutive months.

  According to data from the Shandong Animal Husbandry Department, at present, the overall production capacity of Shandong's live pigs has recovered rapidly.

As of the second quarter, Shandong’s live pig inventory was 23.135 million, completing 89% of the annual mission target and returning to 76% of the 2017 level; the number of breeding sows was 2.545 million, returning to 78% of the 2017 level.

In addition, the scale of the province's primary and secondary breeding pig farms has returned to normal years.
