Designer Kenzo Takada, who is based in Paris and launched the world-famous fashion brand "KENZO", died on the 4th at a hospital near Paris due to infection with the new coronavirus.

I was 81 years old.

Kenzo Takada was born in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture in 1945, studied dressmaking at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, and made his debut as a designer by receiving the "Soen Award", which is said to be the gateway to newcomers.

At Bunka Fashion College, there was a designer, Junko Koshino, who is active worldwide as a fellow student, and he was called "the ninth generation of flowers".



In 1965, he moved to Paris at the age of 25 and announced a novel design with an arrangement of folk costumes. In addition, he held a fashion show at pubs and movie theaters, which was common sense at boutiques at that time, and was in the limelight.



"KENZO" launched by Mr. Takada has become a world-famous fashion brand.



In addition to receiving the French Arts and Culture Medal, Mr. Takada received the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 1999.



We also designed the official clothing for the Japanese team at the Athens Olympics held in 2004.



According to Mr. Takada's office in Japan, Mr. Takada was infected with the new coronavirus in mid-September and was admitted to a hospital near Paris, but he became ill earlier this month and on the 4th. It means that he died around 4 pm (around 11:00 pm on the 4th of Japan time).
