  • Since last Wednesday, restaurants and bars have been closed in areas of maximum alert circulation of the virus.

  • A decision that provokes the anger of the profession, which has decided to mobilize, in particular by proposing a new even stricter health protocol.

  • 20 Minutes

takes stock of these new proposals.

Last week, Olivier Véran announced that in high alert areas, restaurants and bars would be closed.

For now, the measure therefore applies to Aix Marseille and Guadeloupe, surely soon joined by Paris on Monday.

The announcement provoked the ire of restaurant owners, who have repeatedly expressed their dissatisfaction.

But this Thursday, Olivier Véran announced, between two bad news on the level of circulation of the virus in France, that the government would listen to the new proposals of restaurateurs for an even stricter health protocol, which would allow them to open their establishments even in the maximum alert zone.

20 Minutes covers

these proposals.

Non-definitive ideas

A little prevention before anything else, Romain Vidal, secretary general of the French Association of Master restaurateurs and officiating at the Sully restaurant, immediately announces: “This is only a list of ideas and proposals to the Minister of Health.

Nothing says that they will be accepted as such or at least that they will not be modified during the discussion ”.

Nothing definitive therefore, useless if you are restaurateurs and you are reading this paper to change the sanitary measures of your establishment.

Romain Vidal specifies: "as it stands, the health protocol against the spread of the coronavirus remains the same as before".

These ideas therefore, the National Group of Independents of the Hotel and Catering Industry (GNI) and the French Association of Master Restorers are now listing them - in no order of importance or priority, it is emphasized.

A reminder book like in Germany

First, as is already done in several foreign countries, in particular Germany, the establishment in establishments of a reminder book in order to keep the contact details of customers available to health authorities in the event of contamination and to help them. to wind up the wire of the contact cases.

Customers will be able to leave their names and telephone numbers which will be kept for a period of one month.

They will thus be alerted by the health authorities in the event of suspicion of contamination of any person present in an establishment at the same time as them.

“This measure has already shown its effectiveness abroad,” notes the GNI.

“It is not a question of exploiting the data of our customers for restaurateurs, of course,” recalls Romain Vidal.

Just to show the government that we will allow us to do what StopCovid should have done if it had been downloaded enough: trace cases and break the chains of contamination.

"

Temperature measurement and bill at the table

Another measure advanced by the GNI, invite employees as well as customers to take their temperature before entering the establishment.

“The idea is for it to be optional,” says Romain Vidal.

Small businesses cannot afford a doorman or secure a post for thermal monitoring, it would be too expensive.

In the same vein, organize with the health authorities the conditions for massive screening of all professionals in the sector through time slots with priority access reserved for them.

Also, ensure customer payments at the table in order to avoid unnecessary travel within establishments or limit the maximum number of people at the same table to 8 (for the moment, the limit is set at 10).

Measures in addition to the current health protocol

Romain Vidal also proposes to space the tables further (for the moment, the distance is one meter) “as far as possible of course.

The maximum alert areas are mainly large cities, where space for restaurants is scarce and limited.

You can't space the tables five meters apart.

"

The GNI recalls that “these measures would apply in addition to those already compulsory contained in the health protocol, a reminder of which will be made in particular on the ban on consumption standing indoors and outdoors.

And especially in the street.

More control

This is all the anger of Romain Vidal: “We are told that the problem is the fact that some restaurateurs did not respect the health protocol.

And although we are controlled more, that we punish the guilty and that we do not condemn an entire profession.

And it is not for us to lecture our colleagues who do wrong.

It is up to the government to control both in the public domain and in the private sector, in addition we restorers are open door and window, it is easy to see those who do not respect health practices.

"

The secretary general hopes for the support of the mayors, in particular Anne Hidalgo in Paris, “Officially, she said that she would defend us and support us.

We are just asking for equal treatment.

If we close the restaurants and continue to see anything on the public road a few meters from our closed establishments, we will be very, very angry.

"
