Shosoin The "Opening Ceremony" is held once a year to unseal the room Nara October 2, 13:28

An "opening ceremony" was held once a year to unseal the room for the inspection and investigation of treasures at Shosoin in Nara City, which contained the items of Emperor Shomu's favorite items from the Nara period.

At Shosoin, about 9,000 items such as Emperor Shomu's favorite items and treasures related to Todaiji Temple, which were in the Azekura-zukuri Shoso built in the Nara period, are moved to a building called a treasure house and stored.

On the 1st, an "opening ceremony" is held once a year to inspect and investigate treasures, and under the leadership of the director of the Shosoin office, the staff of the Imperial Household Agency and the monks of Todaiji Temple are invited. After cleaning my hands and mouth, I entered the treasure house.

Inside the treasure house, the doors of the six rooms containing the treasure were unsealed with scissors.

After that, the treasures will be inspected and investigated at Shosoin until the end of next month.

Along with this, 59 treasures will be open to the public as "Shosoin Exhibition" at the Nara National Museum from the 24th of this month.

To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, this year's "Masakurain Exhibition" does not sell same-day tickets, and you need to purchase advance tickets with a specified date and time to enter.
