Admittedly, Maine-et-Loire is not one of the French departments most affected by the coronavirus currently.

But "health data confirms an upsurge in the circulation of the active circulation of the virus," says the prefecture of Maine-et-Loire.

As a result, it has decided to extend, in consultation with the regional health agency (ARS), the obligation to wear a mask in public spaces to 13 additional municipalities from Saturday, October 3.

These towns are: Ecouflant, Bouchemaine, Le Plessis-Grammoire, Saint-Barthélémy-d'Anjou, Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire, Saint-Clément-de-la-place, Savennières, Cantenay-Epinard, Montreuil-Juigné, Mûrs -Erigné, Le May-sur-Evre and Maulévrier.

Part of the town of Saint-Martin-du-Fouilloux is also concerned.

The list already included Angers, Cholet, Trélazé, Avrillé, Saumur and Beaupréau, cities where the mask remains compulsory outdoors.

“Wearing a mask applies to all users who travel other than by car, motorbike or scooter,” indicates the prefect of Maine-et-Loire.

Children under 11 are not subject to the obligation.

Controls will be carried out in the municipalities concerned.
