Traditional "octopus deception fishing" elementary school students experience Niigata Murakami October 1, 17:37
Elementary school students experienced the traditional "octopus fishing" on the coast of Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture.
"Octopus deception fishing" is a traditional fishing method that has been practiced in this area for a long time. On the 30th, 33 children from Senami Elementary School participated on the coast of the Shanghai prefecture district of Murakami City.
For fishing, we use a 3 meter long rod with a fake bait that resembles a crab eaten by an octopus.
After receiving guidance from the locals, the children immediately tried "octopus deception fishing".
The children cheered and were delighted when they put a rod in the gap between the rocks, moved it up and down to lure the octopus, and caught the octopus by hooking it with another stick with a key.
One of the boys said, "I was a little wet but I was happy to get the octopus," and one of the girls said, "I enjoyed understanding the local culture."
